AIRCRAFT STRUCTURAL MECHANIC  (1 yr Certificate)  St. Philip’s College-Southwest Campus

Assemble, fit, fasten, and install parts of airplanes and space vehicles, such as tails, wings, fuselage, bulkheads, doors, stabilizers, and landing gear.  Fit and fasten sheet metal covering to surface areas and other sections of the aircraft preparatory to welding or riveting.  Install rigging and control equipment.  Inspect, test, modify, and install equipment according to specifications, using tools such as power shears, acetylene welding equipment, rivet guns, and air or electric drills.

 

AIRCRAFT POWER PLANT MECHANIC  (1 yr Certificate)  St. Philip’s College-Southwest Campus

Repair and maintain the operating condition of aircraft engines such as hydraulic and pneumatic systems, landing gear, propeller assemblies, fuel tanks, and airframe assemblies.  Inspect, test, modify, install equipment according to specifications, using tools such as power shears, acetylene welding equipment, rivet guns, and air or electric drills.

 

AIRFRAME AND POWER PLANT MECHANIC  (2 yr AAS)  St. Philip’s College-Southwest Campus

Service, repair, and overhaul aircraft structures and aircraft engines to ensure worthiness. Use hand tools, power tools, machines and testing equipment. Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

 

AIR CONDITIONING, HEATING, & REFRIGERATION  (1 yr Certificate)  St. Philip’s College-Southwest Campus

Work from drawings to determine materials needed and then build and install various heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment and fixtures. Design and cut various lengths and shapes of ventilation and prepare building spaces for installation.

 

AUTOMOBILE COLLISION REPAIR TECHNICIAN (I-CAR)  (1 yr Certificate)  St. Philip’s College-Southwest Campus

Repair and refinish automotive vehicle bodies and straighten vehicle frames. Assesses and corrects suspension and alignment problems on damaged vehicles and/or performs primarily mechanical repair operations including system diagnostic checks, test, and removal and replacement of mechanical and electrical parts.  Identifies, analyzes, and repairs damaged bodies and body parts of vehicles, according to repair manuals, using hand tools and power tools. Includes frame and structural repair, metal or plastic repair work, and removal and replacement of damaged parts. Straightens bent automobile frames, using pneumatic frame straightening machines.

 

COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT TECHNOLOGY  (2 yr AAS) St. Philip’s College

Apply electrical and electronic theory and related knowledge to design, build, install, test, repair, and modify developmental, experimental, or production communication equipment such as industrial controls, transmitters, and antennas.

 

DIESEL/HEAVY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN  (1yr Certificate)  St. Philip’s College-Southwest Campus

Repair and maintain diesel engines used to power machines, such as buses, trucks, trains, electric generators, and construction machinery. May work with hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and machine tools. Heavy equipment repair involves maintenance and repair of electrical systems, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, brake systems, and transmissions.

 

SERVICE TECHNOLOGY

 

LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT TECHNICIAN  (2 yr AAS)  Palo Alto College

Work in transportation, warehousing, distribution, inventory control, purchasing and logistics. Duties involve procurement transportation, storage, and third party provisions. A Logistician may be working in any area of logistics, such as buying materials, warehousing, inventory control, transportation or quality control. Processing customer orders for accuracy, picking or storing stock in a warehouse, conducting inventory of materials and stock, selecting transportation modes and carriers, and operating a warehouse.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY TECHNICIAN  (1 yr Certificate)  Palo Alto College

Applies scientific, technical, and communication skills and knowledge to specific tasks regarding environmental protection and natural resource management. They interpret environmental regulations and monitor or evaluate environmental impact of hazardous materials policies and storage, handling and disposal procedures.  They collect samples of air, soil, water, and also collect samples from suspected toxic substances for analysis.

AIRCRAFT STRUCTURAL MECHANIC  (7.5 month Certificate)  St. Philip’s College-Southwest Campus for Boeing

Assembles and tests operation of major structural, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic aircraft subsystems and systems.  Troubleshoots and repairs failed components, mechanisms, and parts.  Works from production test procedures, manufacturing plans, blueprints, verbal instructions, and specifications during assembly, set-up of test equipment, and functional test of aircraft structure, mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems.

 

AIRCRAFT GAS TURBINE REMANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN  (5 month Certificate)  St. Philip’s College-Southwest Campus for Standard Aero San Antonio, Inc.

Dismantles, maintains, repairs, restores, overhauls, inspects and/or tests aircraft QEC, engines, modules, components and accessories to determine their condition for return to service and to assure compliance with established company standards, applicable technical documentation and company instructions.  Performs technical troubleshooting using mechanical ability and basic product knowledge.  Cross-trains in other complementary skills as needed to support production requirements.
